“Reflections”

“A work of art is a world in itself reflecting the senses and emotions of the artist’s world.”

-Hans Hofmann

Art can reflect the light or darkness of a time and place or simply be a personal reflection of the artists’ style and personality. It can also be a reflective surface such as a piece of metal or a pond. Or a reflection of the events happening around us.

Ask yourself why does a mirror simply have to be a mirror? Why can it not be a unique and beautiful work of art, What is it truly reflecting? What are you truly reflecting out into the world? What does the world reflect on you?

We ask you to dig deep and share with us your inner reflections, through our newest show, “Reflections”.

“Seasons”

“Every season, I absorb everything around me, the people I see on the street, the discos, the art, the music, and the energy of places from my travels. I mix all of this together, and then I begin to create.”

-Giuseppe Zanotti

We usually think of seasons as a time of year. We look forward to the leaves changing, or the snow falling. Maybe we wait all year for summer and the beaches to open. But someone once said, “To everything, there is a season”.

Those seasons, the ones that we live and feel are just as important to remember as we are watching the calendar tick by. Those fleeting moments of life and death, of laughter and love, make up those days of Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.

In our show “Seasons” we ask that you show us your seasons and share your special moments with the world.

“Libations”

“Too much work, and no vacation, Deserves at least a small libation.
So hail! my friends, and raise your glasses; Work’s the curse of the drinking classes.”

– Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)

Libation; an act of pouring. A ritual of heritage, a drink offering to honor and please the Creator, the lesser divinities, our sacred ancestors, humans present and not present, as well as the environment.

“Unity”

“There is more power in unity than division.”

-Emanuel Cleaver

Harmony and wholeness, in art, is created by using similar elements within the composition and placing them in a way that brings them all together. Life mimics art in that people can work together and complement each other, forming harmony and wholeness through unity.

Unity is strong, it is power!

Please our eyes and senses by showing us what makes you balanced and complete, strong and powerful in our show “Unity”.

“Spaces Between”

“I’m interested in the space between the viewer and the surface of the painting – the forms and the way they work in their surroundings. I’m interested in how they react to a room.”

-Ellsworth Kelly

Even though we are drawn to the objects around us, there are spaces in-between everything. Space doesn’t need anything, It’s huge, quite, existing. It’s there between our thoughts, our breaths, the objects around us.

Focus on it for a moment. How much is there between the table and the wall? Between the lines on the canvas? Between the people around you?

Show us your  “Spaces Between”.

“Best Friends”

“Treat your friends as you do your best pictures, and place them in their best light.”

-Lady Randolph Churchill

It seems that we learn early in life the importance of a “Best Friend”. Sometimes it is a sibling, a kid at school, or the ultimate bestie “Fido”. We learn that we can count on them, trust them, and rely on them to make us laugh when we are sad.

Friends come and go in life but those with the title of “Best”, stay in our hearts forever.

We would like to see your creative expression of “Best Friends”.
