October 11th to December 14th, 2018 “Corners”
“Art is like turning corners, one never knows what is around the corner until one has made the turn.”
A corner can be the point where converging lines, edges, or sides meet. It can be a private, secret, or remote place or maybe a difficult or embarrassing situation. It could also be a point at which significant change occurs or a position from which escape or retreat feels difficult or impossible.
As artists many times we feel our art has turned a corner and has become something more than what we intended or instantly goes just the way we wanted. Van Gogh talked about seeing paintings and drawings in the “dirtiest corners”. And cubism was an entire movement in which artists such as Cezanne and Picasso used faded lines situated around corners and geometric shapes to create a framing of the composition.
We ask you to venture around your personal corners and share them with the world through our newest show, “Corners”.
