The Heart & Sole Project (f.k.a. The Red Shoe Show)

CALL TO ARTISTS:  Visual artists, 3D artists, poets, writers etc. are invited to produce work featuring red shoes and hearts, red or otherwise.

The visual works will be displayed at Chamblin’s Uptown Bookmine, Grease Rags Clothing Co. Hemming Plaza Jewelers, the Zodiac Grill and other cool downtown core locations during December 2014.  25% of all sales go to The Art Center Cooperative, Inc.  Winners of a downtown scavenger hunt will be rewarded with prizes from participating merchants.

The spoken and written works will be presented at Red Shoe Haiku Open Mike Night at Chamblin’s on December 10, 2014. Selected works from both categories will be compiled in a special volume to be published in time for Valentines 2015. Net proceeds from sale of the book will benefit The Art Center Cooperative, Inc.

January 15, 2015 SHADOWS AND LIGHT

Visual artists are invited to produce works that portray shadows, light, or both:  Shadow = a dark shape that appears on a surface when someone or something moves between the surface and a source of light; an area of darkness created when a source of light is blocked.  Light = the form of energy that makes it possible to see things : the brightness produced by the sun, by fire, a lamp, etc.

Information for all juried exhibits

Artwork submitted must be original work by the artist, completed within the last 2 years not under academic supervision. Mass-produced objects or craft kits are not accepted.

2D works must be properly framed with wire on the back or gallery-wrapped canvases, no staples on the sides, with all sides painted. Works with sawtooth hangers on frames and canvases will NOT be accepted. 3D works should be free standing or able to fit on a gallery pedestal. Special installations must be provided by the artist and approved by The Art Center.

Artists 18 years and older residing in the United States are eligible to enter. Cash awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are given based on the amount of entries received.

Insurance is the responsibility of the artist. The Art Center does not accept responsibility of theft, vandalism or damage caused by gallery patrons or staff or caused during transfer for any reason including mishandling by carrier or failure of packaging to protect works in transit. Also not covered is damage cause to work by failure of the work itself, or its mounting systems installed by the artist.

All work must be for sale. The Art Center will take a 40% commission on all work sold by non-members. Commission on works sold by members will be according to artist agreements per member status.
