Artist Charlie Cawley

Picture
Charley Cawley is the creator of "Scene" St. Augustine, A Unique Survey of Scenes in America's Oldest City."

I View all art as a process of putting things together, and in that sense, I see all art as differing forms of collage.  In dance, the dancers put movements of the body together, and literature, writers put words together.  Musicians put differing sounds together, painters put colors and brush strokes together, and sculptors combine differing materials to create their art. Photography is no different, in that the artist with a camera is combining visual appearances into a tow-dimensional image.  It is a process of collage.  Art is around us every day and the potential is infinite.  You see I believe it is the world that has made the art you see in these works.  Often times my camera goes "click., and I pause, and say "Thank you."

Beginning in early 2016, I began to translate some of these ideas into paintings...Story People on Canvas.”  Cookie has work in permanent collections both nationally and internationally and is proud to have been the first recipient in 2014 of the Robert Arleigh White Award for Art Advocacy presented by the Cultural Council of Jacksonville.

Artist Ed Malesky

Picture
Don't miss Ed's sculpture "Oak Fire Fountain" in our
Celebrations Show.
Ed is a Board Member of TAC and the  Immediate Past President.
Ed has always been interested in woodworking and developed his skills to focus on woodturning as art.

He feels that creating his art always starts with a beautiful form. Turning wood into these forms is a truly tactile and very enjoyable experience, complicated by the fact that wood is an organic material that moves and distorts as it dries or contains hidden defects. Sometimes he can use these features and sometimes he needs to plan ahead to get the form he wants.

A beautiful form can be enough, especially when he has used a spectacular piece of wood. However, his real goal is to draw an emotional response from the viewer, so often this initial form is just the canvas for his work.  He loves adding color and texture to his pieces using dyes, paints, pyrography and other processes that allows the viewer to see something beyond just a piece of wood.

Artist Marsha Hatcher

Picture

A military wife for many years, Marsha has traveled around the world and most of her art captures these experiences and the people she has met.  Marsha is an artist who loves creating art and her artwork defines who she is and what she is passionate about. The vast majority of her art is painting, and people of color is her subject matter. Acrylic, oils, and sometimes wood is her preferred medium.

Marsha is a founding member of The Art Center Cooperative, Inc.

Artist Leila Griffith
Picture
Raised in Georgia by a well-known Golden Isles artist mother, she studied painting most of her young life and ultimately pursued a visual arts degree at Georgia State University. After college, fate had a different plan for her and she embarked on a career in catalog merchandising, which she enjoyed for over 35 years. She traveled the globe exploring wholesale trade shows, artists’ studios, rural warehouses, antiques markets and arts museums and markets to source and develop the most appropriate products for the discriminating direct mail audience.

She designed, merchandised, and managed the gallery shop at The Bascom, a Visual Arts Center, in Highlands, NC, for five years, but she rarely picked up a brush or pencil until four years ago. When recovering from several serious health issues, and the need to lighten her mood, family and friends encouraged her to rediscover her inner creative voice – and she has found her new passion.  Her work now mostly reflects her love of flora, fauna and nature and her world travels - whether detailing memories of Paris flower shops, farmers’ markets in Chile, wood storks by a neighborhood stream, canine companions, parks outside of London or small Italian villages, she is inspired by color and all things living.
Artist Lisa Lofton
Picture
I am a 2-D artist using acrylic on canvas as my primary medium.   I do like to create mixed media pieces as well, combining ink, charcoal, and acrylic.  My images are illustrative and vibrant.  With a background in architecture and drafting I have a fondness for old buildings and functional objects with history, with a story.  I search for subject matter with an open mind and feel that no apparatus, scene, or person cannot be depicted in a way that will result in a reconnection to it.  What is considered often mundane and ordinary has a functional history and beauty.

like the humor that can be found in an object, place, or time.  My current series, “Vintage Florida” was born out of a pandemic and the reminiscence of a carefree and joyful time of discovery in my life.  As a transplant in childhood, I saw the State of Florida as a wonderful adventure with so much to offer a visitor.
Born in the 60’s, many of my Florida pieces reflect memories of objects and places that have brought me a sense of happiness and peace.
For me, painting is like reading a well-loved book, a vehicle for escapism when needed, and always a path to understanding myself and my surroundings.  There is more than an intrinsic value in things, their relationship with a person gives them a new identity that is often sentimental and priceless.  I hope to revive fond memories for each viewer with my current series.   Welcome to Florida and a Sunshine State of Mind!
Artist Leslie Kruzicki
Picture

Born in NJ, Leslie enjoyed growing up in a creative atmosphere. She watched her parents perform in, or direct productions by the local community theater. Some of her parents' friends were visual artists. Her first formal art lessons were at age 8. Leslie studied Fine Arts and Literature, receiving a dual BA from Ramapo College. She worked as a Graphic Artist in Virginia as well as opening her own Boudoir Photography Studio. For many years her garden and photography were her means of visual expression. She returned to painting in 2007. Her work has grown and expanded from photography & watercolor, to include a passion for mixed media. Learning new techniques and improving her skills is a constant goal. She is grateful to live in an area with an intensely active artistic community and belongs to several local arts organizations. Her work can be viewed and purchase on line at SharedVisionsArt.com

Artist Danielle Wirsansky
Picture
Danielle has one piece in the Celebrations Show called, "Apis Flora."
Danielle Wirsansky is a photographer for 3 Muses Photography. A current theme of her body of work is anemoia, a longing for a time or place you have never known. She plays with the concept through dress, staging, setting, models, editing, and even the display style of the photographs. Her work is meant to throwback to an older time and invoke a feeling of nostalgia and curiosity in the viewer.
Upon graduating with her masters, Danielle began working as a studio photographer and freelance photographer. She was named a Top Local Artist by St. John’s Magazine in 2018. Over 2021, her work was published in over 25 different magazines internationally and displayed in six different exhibits in the North Florida area. She is currently pursuing a PhD in History at Florida State University. She is a proud member of FemArt Gallery.

Artist Lora Wood
Lora Wood is a native Floridian and a self-taught artist and photographer. She has a love and passion for art and travel which started very early in her life. One that has sustained her through the many curves that it has taken over the years.

Her friends describe her as a “Florida Gypsy Artist”. When not driving the back roads looking for new experiences, she is home daydreaming about traveling and painting the visions that ensue.
Although she is skilled in many mediums, behind the camera is where you will normally find her. Lora's desire is to capture the feelings of a moment rather than the mere image. This is reflected throughout her work. And although you may find her pieces to be a mix of her eclectic interests her overall style borders more on an organized realistic approach.

Picture
Lora Wood has two pieces in the Celebrations Show, "Floating into the New Year" and "Celebrating St Augustine".

Lora is an active member of many local art groups including, The Art Center in Jacksonville (former president and marketing lead), FemArt, Jacksonville Artist Guild and the Art Guild of Orange Park.

Lora's background is in technology and customer service. But her passion is in art. Lora is inspired by the beauty of the natural world and the rich tapestry of people in it. So, combining travel and art was an obvious choice for her to base her creativity. With that in mind, she started shotsfromtheroad.com. A web-based site, and store that combines those passions as well as giving her a chance to branch out into the art of writing.

She is currently utilizing her technical skills to harness the power of the internet. Thus, allowing her to connect with other travelers, artist, and art collectors around the world. These interactions have allowed her to grow as both an artist and an individual. Her art now hangs in private collections across the globe. And although she enjoys exhibiting in local galleries, shows, and businesses she has embraced and thrived in our global connectivity.
