It's Time to Go/D'Day's Eve
It's Time to Go/D'Day's Eve by Doug Johnson
In the wee hours of June 6, 1944, an amassed aerial armada awaited a signal to launch the greatest single offensive of WWII, the D-Day invasion of France. As the signal flare went up, troops from scattered bases in England quietly boarded a fleet of over 800 C-47 transports, and the raucous thrum of radial engines erupted across the countryside. Pathfinder "That's All Brother" then led the entire armada across the Channel; an armada that dropped over 13,000 paratroopers into and behind enemy lines in the pre-dawn darkness. The rest is history…
This piece is part of the Jacksonville Artists' Guilds Exhibition, "The Way, I See It" which will run from MAY 23RD to JUNE 25TH, 2022. The pieces may be online but cannot be picked up from the gallery till after the end of the exhibition.
