Women of Color – Colorful Women Panel 1
Women of Color – Colorful Women Panel 1 by Cookie Davis.
I am continuing to work from my standard theme “Story People”.
Color – skin color should not be an issue that can determine educational opportunities, career paths, fair housing, or social and religious choices. The goal was to define only the color of the women’s skin – with just that one trick of the pencil, society could view and judge by that singular difference.
Many societies use symbols to relay messages. I have used several West African (Ghana) symbols: Binkabi-harmony and unity and Afun Mmirekie symbol of unity between different groups of people. See if you can find the symbols in the women’s clothing.
This goes with Panel 2 and together it would cost $1400.
