Kaleidoscope Wings by Ed Malesky
One of our members brought in a milkweed branch with many Monarch chrysalis that he wanted to gift to the winners of one of our nature exhibitions. Seeing them close up fascinated me. Many YouTubes later, I had planted a butterfly garden focusing on Monarchs. Over the years, we have added host plants for swallowtails, zebra longwings, and several more. I love seeing these flashes of color flitting around the yard.
I had created a lot of hand-marbled paper and knew that it could give me the same feeling about moving splashes of color. A few origami folds later and I had some colorful butterflies wherever I wanted.
This piece is part of the “A View From My Window” Exhibition
