Alchemist’s Wheel by Ed Malesky is a piece from our "Magic Moments" show.
I always have felt that in the middle ages the alchemist was the center of magic - the search for the "Philosopher's Stone" to turn base metals into gold. Astrology was also a key in the process. There was a true belief that the stars controlled lives and processes. This piece was created to look like an old alchemists zodiac wheel that had been buried and recovered.
The base is wood with a number of additional pieces I fashioned and added, as well as the zodiac medallions.
