Alignment by Ed Malesky

This piece is a real departure from my more traditional approach to woodturned sculpture. The concept was derived by combining photographs of my other sculptural work and many of my digital art images. They were mixed together and manipulated hundreds of times. In the end the effort produced a series of shapes. On reviewing them I realized that some of these shapes I could actually make. I used many varieties of my exotic wood collection to produce this sculpture than makes me think of planets and moons in perfect alignment.
