About the Artist:
CHRIS ROBINSON (b. 1900s) is a painter and airbrush artist, self-taught and raised in Jacksonville, Fl. Beginning with a love for comic book art, Chris began his career by developing his pencil, pen, and ink work and eventually his coloring skills. With the decline of the comic industry in the 90s, he leaned into his coloring and started training as an airbrush artist. This led to a wide open market for murals, clothing items, vehicles, and is still a popular medium with the current trend in custom sneakers. Finally, at the age of 40, Chris tried his hand at acrylics on canvas, in which he combines the stylings of comic style art, airbrushing and fine art techniques to convey social commentary and pop culture subject matters with a bold, unique look. |
ARTIST STATEMENT Born in the 70s, raised in the 80s, seems to be my ultimate influencer. Simultaneously, being the best era (* biased opinion) for media for a euphoric childhood (i.e., the birth of Pac-Man, He-Man, Back to the Future, and Star Wars), while some of the worst atrocities in recent history were taking place (*frequent plane hijackings, Tiananmen Square, mass serial killers at large and… Chernobyl). The realization that hits you as you get older, and you learn that, while you were young and having fun, there were great tragedies happening across the globe. My work tries to convey both, and sometimes I mix them together. Contact Chris at: IG@theartspotstore . cleanairgraffix@yahoo.com www.theartspotgallery.com |
