Reduction Linocut Printmaking
with Annelies Dykgraaf
You will learn how to carve into a linoleum block and do a 3 color reduction print. We will do 3 editions. When: Sunday, January 14, 2024 · 1 - 4pm EST Where: 320 East Adams St, Jacksonville, Fl 32202 Price: $75 |
Printmaking is a fine art process that allows the artist to produce multiple prints of an original image. The print is created through contact with an inked block that has been worked on directly by the artist. There are four main categories of printmaking, and we will be doing relief printing. You will cut/carve areas away that will not be printed. The raised portion of the surface will take the ink. Instead of carving separate blocks for each color, we will apply the reduction method and use one block and carve away areas after each color is applied. We will be doing a 3-color reduction and have 3 printed editions.
All supplies are included, We will be using water-based print inks. I suggest bringing an apron to wear.
The image attached is a sample explaining the process - this is not my work.

Texture has the potential to increase the quality of a piece of artwork. Similar to impasto techniques, texture lifts the image from your canvas, board, wall, or other support, giving your artwork a sculptural effect. It literally makes your artwork pop. This class will cover the characteristics of acrylic texture materials; the tools necessary for applying texture to a support; methodologies; and the types of supports needed for the types of texture materials available from your local (or not so local) retail art supplies sellers. Students will be provided all materials and tools needed to practice this exciting aspect of acrylic artwork.
