Tools of the Trade by Leslie Kruzicki dkruzic59@att.net
Beyond the sheer enjoyment of creating, I think art is a way of making others stop and look and think or feel. Indeed, it is an act of communication. What captures my imagination may capture someone else’s. When doing mixed media, my work tends to be semi-abstract or abstract. My conceptual work is almost always mixed media. It is easier to express complex ideas with complex materials.
This piece started as a photograph I took of Paul Ladnier’s studio during Cork's open house. Then the fun and work began! I printed the photo on canvas to paint it and add other elements. Hopefully, I’ve created a bit of a trompe l’oeil effect.
Although I have been dabbling more and more in Abstracts, I still think it’s worth doing beautiful paintings of recognizable subjects.
Painting, painting, painting. It’s what I love. My only regret is that I did not paint all the images I had hoped to.
This piece is part of the "What's on Your Table?" Exhibition at the Main Library in downtown Jacksonville Fl. from November 28th - January 5th. If you need the piece before the end of the exhibit, please notify us at 904-233-9252, and we will arrange an early pickup. Reception December 7th, 6pm-8pm.
