The Circus Comes to Town
The Circus Comes to Town by Leslie Kruzicki
I was so thrilled to a finally have a show I could show some the pieces that wouldn’t fit any other theme. Two of these were created before the call to artists for the show. The other wasn’t exactly created only for this show.
The idea for “The Circus Comes to Town” came to me after I saw the headline you can see in it. Then last year or so there were some “circus” pictures in the Folio regarding local elections. This piece is full of my disappointment in the Republican Party since Trump became their figure head. He is so the antithesis of “the party of values”. The only thing he values is himself.
“Unhinged” was created during a difficult time in my life that was made more dark because I had run out of my antidepressant medication. I would hope that this piece helps others understand what those of us who suffer from deep depression.
The happier piece, “Stepping Out” was actually created for a show with that as a theme. However, I did not finish it in time to enter it. It was indeed, about stepping out after isolation. Stepping out to the beach, stepping out in the city, stepping out to the Zoo. With all that stepping comes other things, like learning, companionship, and play.
This piece is part of the "Bold Statements" exhibition at TAC Gallery from April 3rd - May 27th, 2023. Please support the artists at the reception on Sunday, April 23rd, from 1 - 4pm.
