The paradox of fences is that they can define boundaries for children on a playground, so they feel free and safe inside. They can define guardrails around danger so that we feel free and safe outside. Good fences make good neighbors, but which neighbor is the problem? Are we keeping unwanted things out, or are we creating a prison in our minds and trapping ourselves inside?
