The Daughter of Discovery, Self Portrait
The Daughter of Discovery, Self Portrait by Lisa Lofton
I Love the Surrealism of Rene Magritte. His Famous painting "The Son of Man" is one of my very favorites. It is a self-portrait of the artist. I decided I would don a jacket and a Halloween hat to take a selfie. Using a similar background as the "the Son of Man" i added an apple with a bite taken out of it. The apple is a loose representation of the APPLE COMPUTING symbol. It may also make you think of the Garden of Eden and Eve's tempting Adam. I spent the majority of my professional career in information systems. This is one of the reasons it is called "The Daughter of Discovery". -Lisa
You might say what is Surrealism? The Surrealists sought to channel the unconscious as a means to unlock the power of the imagination. Disdaining rationalism and literary realism, and powerfully influenced by psychoanalysis, the Surrealists believed the rational mind repressed the power of the imagination, weighing it down with taboos.
