Ready for Apple Cake
Ready for Apple Cake by LuAnn Dunkinson
Statement:
I am often asked why I work in watercolor. Watercolor chose me. When we travel, I find taking a journal and a few watercolors is a great way to travel light, but still be able to paint at a moments notice. The medium challenges me. I know that before one color is laid down, I need to plan every subsequent step. I prefer transparent watercolor, so the whites must be saved. To me this is like a puzzle and adds to the satisfaction when everything goes just right. Although Im most drawn to people and animals, I find the subject matter does not mean as much to me as just the process. I am just as happy painting a landscape, as I often do in Plain Aire, as a portrait in my studio.
